Sustainable Ledbury and Pot & Page Café are holding a poetry competition for school children as part of the Ledbury Poetry Festival. The theme is ‘Looking After our World’.

Poems must be no longer than a maximum of 30 lines, on the theme ‘Looking after our World’, and may be in any format.

Entries must be all the children’s own work and must be submitted with a completed application form via email to sustainableledbury@gmail.com or handed in to Pot & Page Café, New Street, Ledbury.

The categories are as follows:

Reception/Year 1/ 2; Year 3/4; Year 5/6, Year 7/8; Year 9/10; Year 11/12

The closing date for entries is Friday 10th June 2022 and winners will be notified no later than Friday 24th June. The prize giving ceremony will be held in Pot & Page Café on the afternoon of Saturday 2nd July.

There will be a First Prize of a £10 book token, Runner Up of a £7 book token and up to 2 highly commended, in each category. All will also receive a certificate.

Sustainable Ledbury would like to print the winners’ poems and the entry form asks for permission from the parent or guardian to do this. Full names will not be used in any publication, only the first name and initial letter of the family name. The application form must be signed by a parent or guardian indicating agreement to this.

There will be 3 judges but they will not be able to provide feedback to the children on their poems.
